Process. The first step when making a mold is getting molding sand. There are two main types of molding sand. Oil based sands, and water based sands. I use Petrobond, which is an oil based sand. Petrobond has the ability to provide a very detailed finish. The only problem with Petrobond is that it gets burnt when molten aluminum touches it.
